IRL Rent Increase Calculator France 2026
The IRL calculator instantly computes the new rent after annual revision using the legal formula: new rent = current rent × (new IRL ÷ old IRL). The IRL index is published each quarter by INSEE.
Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate rent revision using the IRL?
The legal formula is: new rent = current rent × (new IRL ÷ old IRL). The applicable IRL is the quarter of reference stated in the lease, published by INSEE each quarter.
When can a landlord revise the rent?
Rent revision is only possible if the lease expressly provides for it. It occurs on the lease anniversary date, once per year. If a landlord misses a year, they can claim the revision within one year of the anniversary date.
Which IRL quarter should I use?
Use the IRL quarter of reference stated in the lease (usually the last published IRL before the signing date). If the lease doesn't specify, use the most recent published IRL as of the anniversary date.
Is rent revision mandatory?
No. Rent revision is an option, not an obligation. If the landlord doesn't request it at the anniversary date, the rent stays unchanged. The revision can never exceed the IRL rate.
